Playing with Diigo
December 30th, 2005 by Kaushal Sheth
I had heard of this new social bookmarking tool Diigo from Solution Watch .
Thanks to Anusharaji for the invite I got opportunity to test it and use it. It has got great interface and good structure as such. Usage is similar to Del.icio.us. What it lacks is users and more bookmarks. But I guess as this service turns public we will see more of these things.
One might just think did Yahoo make a wise move by buying Del.icio.us when we see sites like Diigo with a similar system and perhaps in near future powerful. I would love to see what new changes & improvements Del.icio.us does to its system.
Finally what I can think of as a wishlist from diigo as of now is an option to import bookmarks from Del.icio.us . I am a del.icio.us fan and unless and untill I am able to import my existing bookmarks from it to Diigo I don’t see switching over to Diigo. Diigo are you listening ??

Kaushal,
Thanks for trying out diigo and give us these feedbacks. yes, importing from delicious is forthcoming. also note that you can now bookmark to delicious simultaneously if you want to. so if you start using diigo toolbar today, there is nothing to lose, and only gain all the extra things that Diigo provides, which include public/private settings, full-text search, and annotations, and some more …
Are these features important to you as a current delicious user? It is to me personally, but I really want to hear your thoughts.
Also, I notice that you refer to diigo as a social bookmarking tool, while we have been really trying to get across the message that diigo is about social annotation, a superset of social bookmarking. Did our message get across to you?
Anyhow, I’d greatly appreciate your thoughts on these questions.

Hi Maggie , thanks for stopping by. I am just an hour old with diigo. Don’t worry I will test it to fullest and will be happy to give my suggestion , opinions.
About social annotation I read about it on your site , but since I have just started using Diigo still not in positon to comment about it. But by the look and features its impressive for starters.
Also one more thing if you can check , the menu availabe in search.diigo.com is what I feel little uncommon for normal users. I am still used to click and drop down menus, the on hover drop down menus seems to give me just a little bit of problems.
