Abstrakt 3 Column Wordpress Theme with Sidebar Widget Support
April 11th, 2006 by Kaushal Sheth
The theme is valid XHTML layout and now features an admin dashboard on front page if you are logged in through backend
Here is an updated version of Abstrakt theme. The new theme is a 3 column version of my famous Abstrakt theme. When Mike created a 3 column of the theme for his personal site I thought I would finally release this version of theme. So here is new 3 column version of the theme. But wait this there is more.
The theme supports widgets. So just upload the theme and activate the theme and select which widgets you want to appear on both sidebar.
So go ahead and enjoy. If you like the work please do consider a small donation to my site.

Great theme, thanks for doing it.
I did find a few errors in the “single post” template, though, having to do with the sidebars.

Hi William ,
Thanks for pointing it out. The errors have been solved and also a new admin panel board feature has been added to the theme. So download it now. The file on my server has been swaped with new version :D.

Hi Kaushal,
I really liked your Abstract 3 column theme and wanted to use it for my project. I downloaded and played around with it a little bit. I notice that you have used one css for both sidebars. Since I haven’t used CSS much, I am wondering if I’ll be able to use 2 differnet bg images for the 2 columns.
Could you please mail me about how to use 2 different bg images for the 2 side bars. Also i found the naming really confusing. The contents of the sidebars are same and I’m going crazy understanding which one I need to change! HELP!

Regarding customisation currently am really busy with my own projects . Maybe in my free time I will mail you instruction on how to do it.

Hey Kaushal. I love your templates. I had a question with how to get rid of the sponsors section in sidebar 2. I am not that familiar with Code. But when I installed widgets on it, that part still pops up and wont disappear. Thanks for the help

Hi Kaushal,
Obviously I love this theme (as I use it on 2 of my blogs; 2 column and the 3 column I made) - how much different is this version to the one I sent you? Should I use yours? Just what are widgets?
Sorry I haven’t had time to put the other 3 column theme I made back together - been busy trying to build an oscommerce charity store to complement the charity faces site atm.

Mike , the theme is a variation of theme you sent and you might need to customise it the way you did it earlier. However this theme now supports widgets ( www.widgets.wordpress.com ). Widgets is a cool thing which makes your theme powerful and gives you a lot of options.

Anyone else would love to ad a 300×250 adsense ad (or any other ad) above the two right columns?
I do, but played with the code for more than 15 hours and been unable to do so… I’m not good ad css positioning, only coloring… so I cant seem to get it right.
Would someone be so kind to share the code?

hello,
i’ve adopted your theme in my new site, but there’s something weird happening with the sidebar that’s driving me crazy. when i click on a certain category, sidebar 1 goes all the way down.
please see here:
http://skirmisher.org/category/random-acts-of-strangeness/
that thing doesn’t happen to all categories, so im at my wits end which is really causing it.
i hope you could answer this. thanks a lot!

You r seriously insane dude.. I had to edit ur template and wasted more than an hour to change the width of the main page… Your template should have some flexibility man… as soon as i change the page width the template become totally giveup… moreover u have to change the width at so many places that to in different files. still its not over u will have to edit the jpg files as well…
Seriously painful

Ciao Kaushal Sheth,
I installed yours theme on my weblog and I like it very much.
I have only a little problem and maybe you may have a workaround to solve it.
With IE6 all works good (strange isn’t it
)
With Firefox some text go over the sidebar.
Do you know how to solve ?
When I finish the localization in Italian do you want that I send yu the file IT_it.mo ?
ciao
wolly

Hi! I really like your template but after I installed it and tried to tweek the CSS in my wordpress “theme editor” it won’t let me update the files. I would make changes and after hitting the “update file” button, it just gives me a blank page that says “Sorry, that file cannot be edited.” Why does this happen? I guess I could change and ftp the files in again but that’s just a pain. I’d much rather just do it using my Wordpress Admin. Any answers to why it won’t allow me to do this? Thanks.

I SO love this theme. My only regret is that the sidebars aren’t on opposite sides of the content section. i.e. Sidebar - content - sidebar.
Will you consider adapting this theme to that layout anywhere in the near future?

Thanks for your great looking theme …i’m going to use it for my new project!

This is a really useful theme, thank you. One question - how do you change the text and headlines of widgets. I can’t find the widget class in the CSS
Thanks
